With the NBA offseason in full swing, Boston Celtics star Gordon Hayward is making the most of his time outside of organized team activities. Hayward is currently in China, launching his signature shoe – the “Anta GH1” – and handling media obligations on his tour with the Chinese brand. With China being one of the top consumers of the NBA – over 600 million people in the country watched some element of NBA content during the 2017-18 season – it’s a great place to spend time engaging with fans.

The outpouring of support among Chinese fans for Hayward has been evident, as people have come out in droves to interact with the NBA veteran.

Hayward even spent time playing against a few fans in a quick game of pickup with his wife as his teammate. Unsurprisingly, Gordon and Robyn dominated the quick game against a pair of eager fans.

In addition to his interactions with fans, Hayward’s first signature shoe with Anta was unveiled with a targeted release date in December 2019. The Anta GH1 line features a few colorways, including an ugly Christmas sweater shoe that could come in handy for Boston’s Christmas Day game against the defending champion Toronto Raptors.

While the trip to China was a business trip related to his partnership with Anta and his new shoes, Hayward did make plenty of time for fun. Whether it was discussing video games in an interview, shooting threes with fans or playing pickup with his wife, Gordon made sure to enjoy his time in a nation filled with die-hard NBA supporters.
