Gordon Hayward returned to action on Wednesday night after missing a game with a strained quadricep, and No. 20 came back right on beat in a decisive Utah Jazz victory.

G-Time tallied a team-high 20 points in addition to seven rebounds and four assists, shooting 8-of-14 from the floor as the Jazz outscored the Sacramento Kings 68-29 in the first and fourth quarters of a 112-82 victory.

“It was a game of runs. We made a big run early, and they came back and made a run at us,” Gordon said. “But our defense was consistent, and we were able to come away with the win. It was a good win for us.”

G-Time got off to a fast start, scoring 10 points in the first quarter including a four-point play. The Jazz matched Hayward’s efficiency in the first, scoring 34 points and taking a 20-point lead into the second quarter.

Ben McLemore finished the night with 22 points off the bench for the Kings to lead a comeback. However, Gordon was there to make sure the Jazz stayed on top. Hayward scored eight points in the second half, including four straight points to give Utah a 107-79 lead with 3:32 left in the game. He checked out for the night just seconds later. After winning the first quarter 34-14, the Jazz nearly replicated it in the fourth, holding a 34-15 advantage.

With the win, the Jazz remain 1.5 games ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers for the fourth seed in the Western Conference.

Up next, the Jazz host the surging Washington Wizards on Friday night.
