Gordon Hayward did a little bit of everything Sunday night, as the Utah Jazz shut down the Memphis Grizzlies for a big Western Conference win.

G-Time stuffed the stat sheet with a game-high 22 points while adding seven rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals in 37 minutes of play. Meanwhile, he played a major role in a defensive effort that held Memphis to 30.1 percent shooting from the field, and a 2-of-23 mark from 3-point range in Utah’s 82-73 victory

“We got some good looks at the basket and we didn’t turn the ball over down the stretch,” Hayward said. “When you get better looks, the shots are going to drop at a higher percentage. We got some layups and we got some open threes. That was the difference tonight.”

Gordon’s four 3-pointers came in the final 4:03 of the game when the Jazz were locked in a 66-all tie. During that stretch, G-Time scored six points, two assists and a rebound.

Rudy Gobert was another big X-factor for the Jazz, especially on the defensive end. The young big man scored 21 points on 9-of-9 shooting, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked three shots.

All five Jazz starters finished with a positive plus-minus rating, with Rodney Hood leading the pack with a plus-24.

“When both of us have it going, we can be tough to guard,” Hood said of himself and Gordon. “We have a lot of chemistry on and off the floor, and we’re able to play off each other. We make life easier on the other.”

When Hayward and Hood both play, the Jazz this season are 14-4. When one of the two misses a game, the Jazz are 4-5. If both players are out, the team is 0-1.

“They are unique together because both are playmakers,” Jazz coach Quin Snyder said. “They both do a lot of things offensively, and they are big guys. They have a lot of size, and that makes them unique as well.”

Up next, the Jazz travel to Golden State on Tuesday night to face off against the defending Western Conference champions.
