It was a busy weekend for Gordon Hayward and the Utah Jazz, who played back-to-back nights against the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets.

The Jazz were unable to contain James Harden, who finished the game with 31 points and 10 assists in Houston’s 111-102 victory.

It was a tough shooting night for Gordon, who tallied nine points, seven rebounds and five assists, but the Jazz star was quick to put the loss behind him.

“I’m on to the next one,” Hayward said. “I’m just not playing well. So we’ve got another game tomorrow.”

On Sunday night against the Nuggets, Hayward looked like his old self, finishing with 25 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

However, while Hayward returned to his All-Star form offensively, it was an all-around rough night for the Jazz in a 105-91 Nuggets victory. The Jazz played on the road for the seventh time in the last nine games, and they were without two starters in point guard George Hill and forward Derrick Favors.

“Hopefully the band will be back,” coach Quin Snyder said. “We haven’t really established a band, so I don’t even know what that sounds like.”

While four players, including Hayward, scored double digit points for the Jazz; Gordon was the only player to score more than 10 points for Utah.

The Jazz will have a rematch with the Nuggets for their next game on Wednesday night.

Hayward will look to continue his early season success while the entire Jazz team will hope to improve upon its recent defensive struggles.

“We just need to focus on the group and the group needs to focus on defense,” Jazz head coach Quin Snyder said. “We’ve always been about playing defense. When all those other things are going well, that’s what you fall back on and we have to remind ourselves of that.”
